Thank you for considering Kelston Boys' High School for your son’s education.  Enrolment applications are completed online followed by an interview.

  • Student’s birth certificate, NZ Passport or proof of  Citizenship/ Residency

Student’s most recent school report (you can request this from their previous school)

  • Proof of address (In-Zone enrolments only)

NON-NZ CITIZEN

  • Student and parent passports, and current VISA for both parent and student
  • Student’s most recent school report (you can request this from their previous school)

ENROLMENT SCHEME/ ZONE
​​​​​​​Kelston Boys' High School Board of Trustees has implemented an Enrolment Scheme/ School Zone as directed by the Ministry of Education, effective Term 1, 2023.​​​​​​​

ZONING INFORMATION AND BALLOT DATES FOR 2025


In-Zone: Year 9 in zone enrolments are accepted throughout the whole year, and any other levels are assessed upon enrolment criteria.
Out-of-Zone: Application closing date - Monday 2 December 2024​​​​​​​​​​​​​​


IN ZONE ENROLMENT

All students living within our home zone are entitled to enrol if they are eligible to attend. See our boundary map for our zone.

OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENT

Kelston Boys’ High School is able to offer placements to a certain number of students (to be determined by the BoT) who live outside of our home zone. ​​​​​​​


Where the number of students exceeds the places available, a ballot will be held, applications will be processed in the following order of priority:


Priority 1: Applicants for enrolment in special programmes: 

KBHS offers 3 bilingual units as special programmes:

  • Onewhero Hīkina Māori Bilingual Akomanga
  • Tōfā Manusina Samoan Bilingual
  • Tongan Bilingual Programme​​​​​​​

Priority 2: Applicants who are brothers of current students

Priority 3: Applicants who are brothers of former students

Priority 4: Applicants who are children of former students

Priority 5: Applicants who are children of Board employees or Board members

Priority 6: All other applicants


BALLOT

  • Ballot date - Wednesday 11 September 2024
  • Within 3 school days of the ballot being held, we will advise out-of-zone students/caregivers the outcome of their application.
  • Within 14 days of being advised, students/caregivers must accept or decline the offer of place.
